CMTS LLC., is currently seeking a highly motivated Civil Superintendent located in Pittsburgh, PA. Salary:

  • $40.00 – $45.00/hour

Required Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist and provide oversite and assurance of all Prime Contractor activities on the project.
  • Conduct project coordination meetings with Prime contractor, their subcontractors, Consultants and CMA (Turner) Staff. Conduct and minute weekly job superintendent safety/coordination meetings.
  • To have complete knowledge of all general contract and subcontract documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure all subordinates/direct reports also have complete knowledge of the contract documents for their assigned trades. Specifically ensure the superintendent’s know scopes of work for each trade.
  • Plan and review the Construction Program refining the Site Logistics and schedule with the Project Manager.
  • Prepare progress area schedules, to keep them properly updated. These schedules will need to weekly update to the master schedule.
  • To examine all drawings and specifications, RFI impractical or un-constructible details, and to refer all findings to the Project team.
  • Ensure that all insurance requirements of Turner and OCIP reports are satisfied prior to starting the work and during the term of the project.
  • Prepare and submit Daily Construction Reports (DCR) and the end of each work shift.
  • Prepare regular and special reports for meetings and attend the same.
  • Keep the Senior Project manager and change team informed as to upcoming changes required in the field in the field, so that such changes may be reviewed, noticed to the client, approved formally directed to contractors using the project change control system.
  • Work with the Project Controls Manager in documenting PCO numbers for the project.
  • Monthly contractor Applications: To assist the Senior Project Manager and participate in the timely preparation of monthly requisitions of the Prime contractors.
  • Ensure good communication and information exchange between all parties. Establish clear contractor meeting system and ensure the meetings occur weekly to promote communication.
  • Define within the superintendent staff ownership and accountability for the written agendas and meeting minutes for each meeting. Ensure superintendent staff issue minutes within two business days of each meeting.
  • Be sure to have a weather watch program in place that reviews the 5-day forecast on a daily basis and post this forecast. Log all weather days and notice owner of delays with the PM as needed.
  • Review the contractors progress with their as built on a monthly basis in concurrence with their monthly payment application.

Qualifications:

  • PennDot experience and knowledge required.
  • Knowledge of Civil construction means and methods, QC/QA, scheduling and cost control procedures, general contract, general conditions, contract documents, drawings and specifications, including Microsoft Office Suite, PMIS (Prolog or similar) and proficiency in EH&S applications.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
