Job Description

A leading distributor is looking for a Director of Customer Care to provide senior leadership and manage its back-office process and team. The ideal candidate has excellent customer service orientation and a thorough knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management. Working cross-functionally, the new leader will ensure exceptional customer experience by establishing policies & procedures to drive efficiency & profitability of the business while meeting/exceeding customer & manufacturer needs.

Type of Position: Direct hire


  • Accurately process data input of high volume of orders with gold star accuracy.
  • Understand and communicate clearly regarding account balances and payments.
  • Provide exceptional, professional customer service and support.
  • Develop a strong rapport with customers.
  • Perform general copying, filing, and other office duties as needed.
  • Interact with our manufacturer partners to process credits due to the company for special promotions and customer returns.
  • Interact with our retail customers to research and resolve product issues by identifying the cause of the discrepancy and issuing appropriate credits.
  • Respond and resolve customer credit/returns in a timely manner.
  • Respond to requests by manufacturers and customers by engaging appropriate parties to ensure the request is completed in a timely manner.
  • Process promotions and returns following guidelines set by each manufacturer partner.
  • Leverage a combination of sound judgment, policy, product knowledge, and research ability.
  • Defuse potentially negative situations in an appropriate and diplomatic manner guiding towards a positive resolution.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to office staff cross-trained to assist with credit processing.
  • Follow communication procedures, guidelines, and policies; build sustainable relationships of trust through open and interactive communication.
  • Follow company’s return policy and advise customers of same.
  • Follow manufacturer partner guidelines for all promotions and consumer returns.
  • Inform Supervisor of potential issues with manufacturer partner and customer requests.


  • Associate Degree or higher in accounting/finance/business preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related role, including interfacing with customers in a professional environment, customer service role, or related field
  • 5+ years of work experience in a fast-paced office environment
  • High level understanding of billing, accounting, and crediting processes
  • Extremely accurate data entry, including 10-key
  • Ability to memorize numerous order codes for data entry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Superior phone and communication skills
  • Strong ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and work effectively under pressure
  • Professional maturity, consistent track-record, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication with exemplary interpersonal and active listening skills
  • Demonstrate proper telephone techniques and etiquette
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Strong data entry skills, ability to learn our point-of-sale system, and experience and skill using Excel
  • Ability to problem solve and analyze issues and bring to resolution
  • Maintain accuracy and focus while effectively multi-tasking
  • Work independently and also collaborative within a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Prioritize duties to achieve deadlines and work efficiently under time constraints
