Overview

The Learning and Development Administrator, in partnership with the Training and Professional Development Coordinator, will conduct, design and promote training and development opportunities that provide employees the opportunity to pursue a desirable career path at DDI and enhance the skills and capabilities of all leadership. In addition, they will also partner with local universities, colleges and other potential affilates to bolster our community relationships and bring new and creative opportunities to the organization.

This position is eligible for hybrid work if desired.

Developmental Disabilities Institute, DDI, is one of the largest providers of care to children and adults with Autism, developmental disabilities and other special needs. DDI has been a part of Long Island for over 50 years serving over 1,500 children and adults with Autism, other developmental disabilities and special needs. DDI provides innovative and expansive services to our population through various educational settings, residential services, day habilitation programs and vocational services.

Salary: $60,000/year

Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with Training and Professional Development Coordinator, develop and oversee leadership trainings for all managers and aspiring managers. This includes promotion of leadership development program and coordination with program leadership.
  • Collect and review feedback results to ensure quality of training.
  • Maintain the learning and development calendar on the agency’s intranet and promote all opportunities with employees.
  • Develop and oversee a mentorship program for all agency employees.
  • Enhance and oversee internship program and work closely with local universities for placements and opportunities; maintain records of affiliation agreements and certificates of insurance.
  • Ensure all program training delegates are informed of all updated trainings and that their programs are compliant.
  • Serve as backup for new hire orientation trainings.
  • Collaborate with program directors and employee relations to identify training needs and unique and external training opportunities for staff.
  • Develop health and safety trainings based on programmatic trends and incidents.
  • Assist in the supervision of training interns.
  • Develop the seasonal training newsletter.
  • Provide consultation to employees on education options and career paths.
  • Present at colleges and universities about career and internship opportunities.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all employee/agency information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of experience in Training and/or Professional Development
  • Ability to present and speak in front of groups
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and work on projects with limited supervision
  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
