Pharmacist

Location: Remote

Duration: 6 months

Description:

– Performs prospective and/or retrospective drug utilization review.

– Coordinates the distribution of clinical drug information and educates providers and staff regarding the appropriate use of pharmaceutical treatment regimens.

Fundamental Components:

– Improves quality of service to members by providing prior-authorization of formulary drugs, developing programs to provide optimal pharmacy care to patients, and participating in dispute resolution of drug utilization review.

– Collaborates with other medical personnel in developing prior authorization guidelines.

– Makes recommendations to physicians to improve medication regimens as appropriate.

– Maintains the non-formulary exception program and/or the rebate program consistent with contract, state and/or federal guidelines.

Background Experience:

– Knowledge of clinical program components, formulary designs, and prescription benefit trends preferred

– 2+ year of previous clinical pharmacy experience required

– Managed care experience preferred

– Current unrestricted state license required

– Understanding of medical and pharmacy terminology required

– Board certification and residency preferred

– Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of pharmacy or Pharm.D from an accredited school of pharmacy required

Duties:

– This individual must have excellent interpersonal skills.

Will be responsible for:

– Reviewing patient profile, drug interactions, sensitivities and drug usage database in relation to patient’s prescription.

– Determines if prescription requires physician clarification or if it should be forwarded to therapeutic intervention or doctor phone calls for follow-up.

– Enters prescription in to the computer.

– Assists in patient services as required, taking incoming prescription medication questions/concerns from patients.

– Assists in the doctor phone call area and/or therapeutic intervention as assigned and contacts physicians to resolve any questions or concerns.

– Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.

– Works with other members of the pharmacy to ensure accuracy of prescriptions.

– Dispenses prescription medication and performs final dispensing quality check on all prescriptions for accuracy and dosage.

Experience:

– Appropriate state license required. Basic computer skills required. Strong organizational skill, interpersonal skills and detail orientation important for this position.

– Minimum of two year’s pharmacy experience in a retail or hospital setting preferred.

Education :

– Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or Pharm D.

– Required with at least two years experience as a pharmacist.

– Must have an active AZ Pharmacist license in good standing.

Expected salary: $63.51 – 65.75 per hour
