We are now inviting applications for a Tenure track position in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour. The position offers an excellent opportunity to build a versatile academic career as a part of our internationally renowned and innovative community. The position will be filled either as a fixed-term Assistant or Associate Professor position within the Tenure track system, or as permanent employment as Full professor. The level is determined by the applicant’s merits and career stage.

The position is located in the School of Management. The School carries out research and education in the fields of business studies and administrative sciences across its seven subject areas. The research profile and activities of the position are connected to the Human Resource Management research group, which is Finland’s largest research group focusing on human resource management. In addition, the research will be oriented to one of the themes of our three multi-disciplinary research platforms: energy and sustainable development, digital economy, and innovation and entrepreneurship.

Job description and requirements

The field of the position is human resource management and organisational behaviour. We welcome various theoretical and methodological approaches to research on people management and the employee experience in organisations. It is viewed as advantageous if the applicant’s research profile addresses one of the grand challenges facing people management and the employee experience, for example digital transformation, the future of work, (de)globalization, and sustainable development.

The ideal research profile strengthens and complements existing research at the University of Vaasa in the areas of HRM, leadership, employee wellbeing and international HRM. The desired areas of expertise and interest ideally include, but are not limited to, the following:

– HRM in organisations: HRM and performance, role of HR, leadership development
– Organisational behaviour: Employee-leader relationships, employee wellbeing and work engagement, careers
– International HRM: global mobility and careers, global talent management, talent integration
– Future of work: hybrid/flexible work, digitalization, remote leadership

The Tenure track position is research-oriented, but also includes teaching, thesis supervision, seeking external funding for research projects and university administrative tasks. The teaching and supervision of the position is intended to support the Bachelor’s Programme in Management, the Master’s Programme in Human Resource Management, and the University’s Doctoral Programme.

Applicants are required to have an appropriate doctoral degree together with excellent academic merits, evidence of the potential to produce high-quality research, as well as evidence or the potential to produce high-quality teaching. For the position of Professor, practical non-academic experience in the field is not required but can be considered beneficial. Salary and benefits

The salary is based on the Finnish University Salary System (YPJ) and subject to regular reviews. The annual starting salary incl. holiday bonuses is approx.

– Assistant professor: €48,800 – € 52,800
– Associate professor: €56,300 – € 60,900
– Professor: €68,000 – € 82,900

Each University of Vaasa employee automatically belongs to a pension scheme and the majority part of the pension contributions is paid by the employer. We also pay bonuses for publications accepted in high-ranking outlets. For employees moving to Finland from abroad, paid relocation services are available.
